The best option if you want to type your post before copying and pasting into Cascade is to type your post in Notepad or some other text editor software, as it will not produce any hidden code or formatting.

Student Blog ~~webpages:~~webpages is posted below. The same information is contined in the following word document:
Post a Blog Entry
Log into Cascade at http://cascade.wm.edu
Enter your WMuserid and password and the Cascade Dashboard will load.
Creating a new blog post
The students should first click on the link to:
"Voices from the Field: Student Summer Blogs"
which should be visible on the student's "Home" control panel in Cascade under "My Starting Page".
Second, the student needs to click on his or her blog folder in the left-hand tree view of Cascade, the folder will have your name on it. Unfortunately, just clicking on a name/link in the preview page doesn't select the folder. Once the folder is selected the student will see a list of existing folders and any existing posts in their folder. These folders will be listed on both the leftside folder tree and in the center of the screen where the preview was.
Now the student should be able to select "New >> Law >> Blog Post" to create and save a post.
The error "write permissions are required..." indicates that the folder was not selected before creating the Blog Post.
Once the New Page loads fill in the Title, Summary, Author and Date fields
Enter Content (the body of your blog post) in the beige area
Note: To create links, select the text you wish to link and click the Insert/edit link button (chain icon), then for internal links, browse to and select the desired page within Cascade, click Confirm then click Insert
OR for external links, click the External tab then enter the full url in the link field.

When your post is complete, click Submit. NOTE – If you receive an error message that says “An error occurred during creation: Write permissions are required on the destination folder to move an asset into that folder.” then you are not in the correct folder for creating your blog post.
After submitting your post, you will see the Start Workflow: WM Blog Create-Edit-Copy screen. You will then have the option to enter Comments (anything you’d like the moderator to see).
Click Submit and you will see a message at the top of the screen in a green bar that should say "Asset created successfully".
Your new blog post can now be seen in the preview screen to the right of the folder tree and will be published to the website in an overnight process that runs automatically.
Uploading images to Cascade
Before you can add an image to your blog post, you will need to upload the image to Cascade – be sure to resize them and remove any spaces in your file names first.
To upload your image navigate to your folder click New >> WM-WMBlogs or WM-StudentBlogs >> [your name] >> Content Image – [your name]
Once the New File screen loads enter the same text in Display Name and Title (internal use only)
Browse for the file using the Browse [ ] button, select the file on your computer and Click Open
Submit
Adding images to a blog post
In the edit mode of a page place cursor where the image should be inserted in the body of your blog
Click the Insert/edit image button (a tree icon is on the button)
Browse to the images folder in Cascade that you uploaded your image to, and select the desired image file
Enter Alternate Text and click Insert. (Note: the Alternate Text is a caption for your image should you choose to display it.)
If the image should be aligned left or right, click on the image and choose 'photoleft' or 'photoright' from the Styles drop down menu in the toolbar (for captions to appear, choose 'leftwithcaption' or 'rightwithcaption')
A quick note about file names: The W&M web standards call for having file names meet these conditions:
1) No spaces or special characters in file names.
2) All lower-case letters in file names.

How to Make an Event Show in a Lisbox When All Else Fails
If you have set the number of events to show in your listbox AND have set the dates on the event so that it should be appearing AND have republished the Events Folder (including the index and the new event) and published the listbox itself. Now you have to go to the extreme.
Open the specific event folder and select blockofcontent and 'Edit'. Now go to the Content tab and see how many 'Max Rendered Assets' there are. If you do not publish thousands of events AND if you have a set number of events in this field, then no other events will be refreshed and show in your listbox. So the best choice is to set the value to '0' for unlimited.

Widget Info for Faculty Q-A

To add a new item to the widget edit the 'Widget' item and then click on the + to create an additional item. This new item will have a referral link to the entire story, along with a link to the thumbnail picture and widget box picture.
Location of text that is linked to the 'more' link is in the folder -- facultyqanda. If it is the images (photosets) used at the top of the story they are in the images folders, if it is the text that is linked to the widget one line blurb then it is directly in the folder as a new 'feature'.
